Etymology

Psilocorsis: Combines the Greek deprimere, meaning “to press down” or “flatten,” with the common zoological Greek suffix, ia, used to form nouns.

Overview

Psilocorsis is a small genus of taxonomically disputed moths that most taxonoimists place within the subfamily Depressariinae. Members of Psilocorsis are distributed across North America, east of the Rocky Mountains, into Central America, and northern South America.
