Hypatopa: Derived from the Greek hypa meaning “under,” and the Latin topa meaning “female.”

Overview

Hypatopa is a small genus of taxonomically disputed moths in the family Blastobasidae. Some taxonomists place it into the Holcocerinae subfamily, while others do not recognize a subfamily and instead consider it part of the tribe Holcocerini.
