Etymology

Ethmia: Combines the Greek ethm, meaning “sieve” or “sift,” with the common zoological Greek suffix ia, used to form nouns.

Ethmia is a large genus of moths in the subfamily Ethmiinae. The genus is distributed in every continent with the exception of Antarctica.
