Etymology

Eriocranioidea: Eriocrani is a combination of the Greek erion, meaning “wool,” with the Latin kranion, for “head” or “skull.”

The suffix oidea is standard taxonomic nomenclature to indicate that word pertains to a zoological superfamily.
