Etymology

Coleophora: Combines the Greek words koleós, meaning “sheath” and phora meaning “bearer or carrier.”

spp: Is a taxonomic abbreviation for the Latin species pluralalis to indicate that something applies to multiple members of a genus.

Overview

Coleophora is a large and widespread genus of moths in the family Coleophoridae. Although their range is worldwide, the majority of species in this genus are native to the Northern Hemisphere.
