Etymology

Apatelodes: Combines the older genus Apatela once used for the Dagger moths and the Greek odes, for “resembling.”

Overview

Apaetlodes is a genus of moths that contains several dozen, primarily old-world species. Only three species occur in the United States: Apatelodes auduboni and A. pudefacta of the southwest, and the Spotted Apatelodes (Apatedlodes torrefacta) in the east.
